HARMONY

HARMONY develops a Contactless Interactive Sensing System (CISS) that integrates radar technology, thermal imaging, and artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor cardiorespiratory vital signs in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Objectives

HARMONY aims to co-design and develop a contactless, radar-based monitoring system that combines FMCW radar, thermal imaging, and a child-friendly on-screen co-pilot to measure heart rate, respiratory rate, and heart rate variability (HRV) in children with ASD, minimising the sensory discomfort associated with wearable devices.

Personalised AI algorithms will identify and filter motion artefacts caused by spontaneous movements and repetitive behaviours, ensuring reliable biomarker extraction.

The system will be clinically evaluated against established reference methods (ECG/PPG) in children with ASD and typically developing peers, generating a curated dataset compliant with Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards.

Role of NVISION

NVISION coordinates and leads the technical execution of the project, overseeing the development of the Contactless Interactive Sensing System (CISS), its integration into the exCare platform, and the exploitation of project results in close collaboration with clinical partners.
